How do I get minor water damage off a lithograph?
I bought an old lithograph and at the very bottom-under where it was signed and numbered, there is a slight dark stain that I think is water damage. It's only at the bottom near the frame in an almost white colored area and does not take away from the painting but I would like to try to fix it if possible. Thanks in advance!
DO NOT TRY TO FIX THE STAIN! Just 'leave it alone' and if you don't like it, when you have the piece framed try to get something that will 'cover' it. Lithographs are not 'originals' but are prints, and every 'stain' MAY come from the artist, and 'fixing' the stain could actually lower the 'value' of the piece you have, depending on the artist, the number of the litho, and and 'other factors' ...
